Bio
Born in Tokyo, Japan, Norio moved with his family to Los Angeles, California at the age of seven. After graduating from Cal Poly and then Art Center, he has gained much of his experience by working for agencies such as TBWA/Chiat/Day, Omelet, AKQA, Ignited, and ACNE.
Norio specializes in sculpting interactive narratives, like alternate reality games (ARG), as well as mixing interactive and broadcast together to bring innovative new content to the web. While at Omelet, Norio helped create the highly acclaimed Burn Notice: Covert Ops for USA Network. The trilogy of Covert Ops games have been featured in many publications, including Fortune, Ad Age and Creativity, with the first- two game being rated one of the highest visited and most registered sites in USA network history.
Apart from his professional work, Norio also designed one of the characters for Play Imaginatives’ Trexi Series, ‘ANIMAL,’ where it was accompanied by designs from other world-renowned artists like Gloomy, Gary Basement, Jeremyville and Mad. Norio also showcased his motion graphics work at various art galleries such as Marr’s Bar (Spain) and the Silver and Gray Gallery (LA). Norio, along with his designs, were featured in the WEB DESIGN INDEX 08, a book published by Pepein Press of Amsterdam and distributed worldwide.
His work has been recognized by various award shows, including the Cyber Lion, One Show, Clio, Andy Award, LIA Finalist, Communication Arts, FWA, Webby, Digital Out of Home Award, London International Award, Yahoo Purple Chair, Addy, Beldings Bowl, Pixel Awards, Promax/BDA, ADDY and Mowsnet Web Awards
